State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES)

The New York State Department of Environment Conservation regulates discharges to surface (as opposed to EPA's regulation of Underground Injection Control). Surface discharge (including many septic systems) requires a SPDES permit (State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) from DEC.

What the SRM Service can do to help:
Training and Workshops:

  • SPDES Awareness Training

  • We can provide information to your staff on procedures that will ensure compliance with SPDES permits issued by the NYS DEC.  

Services:

  • Assist the district with writing procedures for compliances with the NYS SPDES permit.

  • Act as a liaison between the school district and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
